Adivasi ～ The Tribes Living with The Earth

（展覧会ステートメント）

インドに足繁く通うようになってから25年を超えたが、タラブックスとの関わりや『Origins of Art』の出版などを経て、近年はインドの先住民族をライフワークとして撮りためている。インドの先住民族は「アディワシ（アーディヴァーシー）」と呼ばれ、社会的マイノリティとされる。彼らは都市から遠く離れた山や森のなか、ときには人目を避けるような辺境で暮らし、独自の文化や生活習慣を維持しながら暮らしている。そして、彼らの村を訪ねるたびに感じるのは、大地に根付いた生命力の伸びやかさだ。彼らは歌い踊り、ここではない別の世界へと通じている。

I have been in India frequently for more than 25 years. In recent years I have been taking photos of The Tribal World in India as my lifework, because of my relationship with Tarabooks and the publication of "Origins of Art". The people in these photos are the minorities in Indian society called "Adivasi".  They live in the mountains and forests far from the city, and maintain their own culture and lifestyle. Every time I visit their villages, I feel awe for their beautiful vitality rooted in the earth. Their singing and dancing lead to Another World.

写真家・編集者など。『地球の歩き方』など、南アジアやアフリカを中心に辺境エリアの取材・編集に携わる。KAILAS名義で著作やイベントも行っており、共著に『持ち帰りたいインド』（誠文堂新光社）、『タラブックス インドのちいさな出版社、まっすぐに本をつくる』（玄光社）などがある。2019年、インドのタラブックスより『夜の木』の画家バッジュ・シャームとともに『Origins of Art～The Gond Village of Patangarh』を上梓。

Photographer and Editor. Engaged in coverage and editing  "Grobe trotter guidebook", mainly in South Asia and Africa. Co-authored "Mochikaeritai India" (Seibundo Shinkosha), "Tarabooks" (Genkosha).  In 2019, published "Origins of Art ~ The Gond Village of Patangarh" with Bhajju Shyam, the painter of "The Night Life of Trees" from Tarabooks, India.
